At CES 2020 Amazfit showed its very first truly Wireless earbuds- Amazfit PowerBuds

You know what! It has to be one of the most feature-packed wireless earbuds out there.

Well, we went hands-on with the Amazfit PowerBuds

So, let’s take a look…

Amazfit PowerBuds: The Best Truly Wireless EarBuds

Amazfit PowerBuds

The All-New Amazfit PowerBuds comes in three colour variants(Black, White, and Yellow). All of the colour variants have a smooth pattern. But this texture is more prominent in the black one as it has a red pattern.

Anyway, these are sporty wireless earbuds so they have the full in-ear design. Well, we always like full wireless earbuds, the PowerBuds do look a bit confusing. At first, you might get confused about how do they go in.

Apart from that, Amazfit PowerBuds do fit in nicely and are lightweight. They do come with different tips. So it should fit most people. Also, we tested these earbuds during the workouts and while it was fine. The earbuds did fall off once.

Now, that’s where the Sport Ear Hook comes into play. These ear hooks stay in the charging case so you have them at all times.

So, these are magnetic ear hooks. so you can magnetically connect it with the earbuds. And that’s it, now this makes sure that the earbuds don’t drop even during intensive exercises. We did test these out and it works perfectly.

Another thing to note on the design front- these are IPX5 Water Resistant earbuds. So you’ll be fine with sweat and rain.

When it comes to the build quality, be it the EarBuds or the case- they have a fairly premium build. So no problems here.

Coming into the features, Amazfit PowerBuds is one of the most feature-packed wireless earbuds. First off let’s talk about the big one- The Amazfit PowerBuds come with a PPG heart rate sensor. So you’ll be able to monitor your heart rate during workouts. It works great and it is pretty awesome.

Amazfit says that you’ll get voice notifications when your heart rate exceeds a certain number you’ve set. That’s not all though, the EarBuds also bring your workout details like the pace, the duration, the distance and more.

Apart from the heart rate tracking, the Amazfit PowerBuds comes with all the usual features that we want in wireless earbuds. There are touch controls, so you can play and pause music, skip tracks or activate google assistant. All these actions are said to be customizable in the app.

There is also Wear Detection. Now this feature is one feature that’s super handy and we love it. With this, you can just take out the earphones from your ear and the playback stops.

They’re also a couple of modes as well. There’s a new True Mode which can be enabled with a single tap. This is the mode that increases the Ambient noise. so if you are running outdoors you can hear the surrounding traffic conditions.

However, if you’re working out indoors and you want the Dark night music playing in the background to really pump you up. There’s a motion beat mode for that which enhances the bass so your workouts get more dynamic.

Another feature to note is ENC i.e. Environmental Noise Cancellation with dual mics for better call quality.

All of these features sound great but we are yet to test them out as the Amazfit app with all of these features is still in closed beta. And we only use these earbuds very briefly.

Now, we did test the sound quality of the Amazfit PowerBuds. The quality of these earbuds seemed great. The bass is good and the quality at around 80% volume was really good.

So we’re positive when it comes to sound quality of the PowerBuds.

Lastly, there’s the battery. This is where the Amazfit PowerBuds impressed us the most.  The earbuds are rated for 8 hours of playback on a single charge and that’s with heart rate monitoring turned on. It is honestly really impressive.

Most truly wireless earbuds don’t have this kind of battery life. The Realme Buds Air lasts around 3 to 4 hours. The  Apple AirPods Pro day lasts around 4 to 5 hours. So you get the idea.

Also, you get another 16 hours with the charging case and that’s a total of 24 hours. now the charging case here is also nice looking and features a USB-C port which is just perfect.

Talking about the pricing, the Amazfit PowerBuds will arrive in February and it’ll arrive at $99. Around 7000 rupees in India.

Now, It seems a little pricey considering the Realme Buds Air and JBL C100 are available for around 4000 rupees. But if it gets priced around 5-6K, it’ll be great.

Compared to the other earbuds, these bringing features like heart rate monitoring, magnetic ear hooks, different sound modes, and way better battery life. Also, there are features like touch controls variate, google assistant, ENC with good sound quality.

We are hoping Amazfit brings these PowerBuds to India soon because, from the looks of it, the Amazfit PowerBuds seemed like a winner.

We were really impressed with these EarBuds but what are your thoughts on it? Tell us in the comment section.
