The All-New OnePlus 7T and the new ROG Phone 2 recently arrived in India. We were expecting OnePlus to be priced at fifty thousand, but well, it launched in India at Rs. 37,999, and that puts it right next to the OnePlus 7T.
So, the ROG Phone 2 vs. the OnePlus 7T: Which One is Better?
Let’s get started!
On the design front, both of these phones are good-looking. The ROG Phone 2 has the cool ROG logo that lights up and has different patterns that give it a very gaming phone look. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7T is also a premium looking smartphone and has a Gradient finish and sleek design. But, I am not the fan of the OnePlus Circular camera design. You may or may not like it.
When it comes to the functionality onboard, the ROG Phone 2 kills it. The ROG Phone 2 has the headphone jack while the OnePlus 7T doesn’t. The ROG Phone 2 has two USB-C type ports making it super easy to charge while gaming, but also in plugging any accessory. It also has Dual Haptic motors and Air Triggers – the cool invisible ultrasonic buttons you can use while gaming.
Both of these phones have Stereo speakers, but we found that the ROG Phone 2 speakers are louder and better. The OnePlus 7T is water-resistant, we mean sure it does not have an IP rating but it is water resistance while the ROG Phone does not.
On the front, both the Smartphones have AMOLED displays, but there is one key difference. The OnePlus 7T Display is nice and smooth at a 90 Hz refresh rate. But the ROG Phone 2 takes it to the absolute next level with a 120 Hz AMOLED panel. ROG Phone 2 has the world’s first 120 Hz AMOLED panel, and it is gorgeous and super smooth.
The OnePlus 7T AMOLED panel is a little brighter than the ROG’s. But it’s not a big difference and other than that both the phones have vibrant and sharp AMOLED panels. The ROG Phone 2 has Gorilla Glass 6, which is excellent. The OnePlus 7T also has Gorilla Glass, but OnePlus hasn’t specified the specific version.
In the Performance area, both the Smartphones head to head to each other. They both have the Snapdragon 855 plus Processor- the latest and greatest when it comes to Android Flagships. Both the OnePlus 7T and ROG Phone 2 have 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. So that’s the same specs.
Well, in the Benchmarks, the OnePlus 7T has little better scores for some reason.
In Real World, both phones give a similar experience. Both are fast and snappy, and the same can be experienced while gaming. PUBG Mobile runs on HDR and extreme graphic settings on both phones and gives a smooth and great experience.
The Phones get a little warm after PUBG, but the ROG Phone 2 gets a little warmer. But the performance of both the devices was impeccable.
The ROG Phone 2 does have a slight edge when it comes to Gaming. It brings a whole lot of accessories to entice you. There is the new ROG GamePad which is very customizable, a new lighter yet more effective Cooler Fan, Twin Dock which features a Secondary 120 Hz display and packs in a 5000 mAh battery as well.
Moving on to the software, The Oxygen OS on OnePlus 7T and the New UI on the ROG Phone 2 both are very near to Stock Android. Oxygen OS on the OnePlus 7T works on Android 10, which is the latest Android version. While the ROG phone 2 comes with Android 9 Pie.
Apart from the different Android versions, they’re both feature-rich and comes with unique customization options.
Both the phones also bring Face Unlock. The Face Unlock is super fast on both of the smartphones. Also, Both the phones have an In-Display fingerprint scanner, and both are pretty fast and are going neck to neck.
You get a 48 MP f/1.8 Primary Camera and a 13 MP f/2.4 Ultra wide-angle lens on the ROG Phone 2 while the OnePlus 7T brings a 48 MP f/1.6 Primary Camera and 16 MP f/2.2 Ultra wide-angle lens with a 12 MP f/2.2 Telephoto sensor for 2X optical zoom.
The Photos on clicked by both the phones are evenly matched on the details and sharpness. But the colours of ROG Phone 2 Photos are way better than OnePlus pictures. The OnePlus 7T messes up the white balance at times, and it’s just weird and noticeable.
Things do change in low-light conditions, and the OnePlus 7T captures photos that are slightly better and overall has more detailed than the ROG phone.

In Portrait mode, the ROG Phone comes out on top again as his photos have better details on the face and more natural skin tone.
Then there’s the Ultra wide-angle lens, but here both of these phones are decent and comparable. The ROG Phone 2 does have a slightly wider field of view, but other than that they are similar.
On the video’s side, both the phones can shoot videos in 4k at 60fps. The quality is decent on both phones, but the OnePlus 7T video is more stable due to OIS and EIS. The OnePlus 7T also has a Super Stable mode in 1080p which the ROG phone can’t match.
The battery on ROG Phone is huge and has a 6,000 mAH Battery. While the OnePlus 7T has only 3,800 mAH battery. The ROG phone 2 is a beast on the battery front. Sure, the 120 Hz display on the ROG Phone 2 takes up a lot of juice. But even with the Display set to 120 Hz, the ROG Phone 2 easily lasts for a day and a half. The OnePlus 7T, on the other hand, also has a decent battery, but it’s no match to the humungous battery on the ROG phone 2.
The ROG Phone 2 Standard Edition comes with an 18 Watt-Fast charger while the OnePlus 7T comes with the new 30 WARP charger. The OnePlus 7T takes just 55 minutes to go from 10 to 100 percent but the ROG Phone 2 takes two hours.
So, the ROG Phone 2 is just a better overall package in Our Opinion. What do you think about these Phones, tell us in the comment section?
