The first thing you need to know is that PlayStation 5 will be backwards compatible which means it will support games from the previous generation of PlayStations. But it will support games of PS4 and PS4 Pro only and not PS3 and older generation console games.
PlayStation 5 will be powered by a custom eight-core and sixteen-threads AMD Zen 2 CPU at a clock speed of 3.5 GHz with SMT. This is far greater than Eight cores at 1.6 GHz on PS4.
Coming to GPU, the PS5 will have a custom AMD RDNA-2 architecture-based GPU. This will offer 10.28 teraflops of power and 36 compute units at 2.23GHz with variable frequency. Comparing to PS4 which has only 1.84 Teraflops and 18 Compute units at 800MHz.
PlayStation 5 boasts a 16GB GDDR6 RAM. This 16 GB GDDR6 has a variable memory bus, the 10GB will run at 560 GB/s, while the rest of the 6GB will run at slower 330 GB/s.
The PS5 comes with a storage capacity of 825GB. This will be an NVMe SSD for faster game launches and smooth gameplays. Sony also claims that PS5 can process 5GB of data in one second. Also, you can extend the storage by an external SSD or HDD which is great!

So, the above specs make PS5 capable of running the games in 4K UHD. So now you can understand the power of the PS5. It also supports DirectX 12 which brings the next level of graphics in PS5.
